The Yosef Ngowe Impact on and off the field in the UNLL Season 3

Yosef Ngowe is a Ugandan international lacrosse player who has represented the Uganda men’s national lacrosse team (Lacrosse Cranes) at both junior and senior levels.

  • Nationality: Eligible for Uganda through his Ugandan father; his mother is American.
  • Height/Weight: 6’3″ (190 cm), approximately 200 lbs (91 kg).
  • Hometown: Tororo Uganda – Georgia, USA.

Uganda National Team Career

  • Represented Uganda at the 2022 U21 World Lacrosse Championship in Ireland, where he was highlighted as one of Uganda’s standout players.
  • Selected to Uganda’s 26-man squad for the 2023 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship in San Diego, USA.
  • Played as a midfielder for the Lacrosse Cranes during the tournament.
  • Was described as one of Uganda’s “star attractions” in their World Championship match against France by scoring the opening goal of the campaign.

College Lacrosse Career

  • Played NCAA Division I lacrosse at Mercer University before transferring.
  • Later played for Lindenwood University as a senior midfielder. In 2024 he appeared in all 12 games, recording an assist, ground balls, and caused turnovers.
  • Academic background includes studies in marketing and recognition as a Presidential Business Scholarship recipient.

Leadership Role

In 2025, Ngowe launched a fundraising campaign as a captain for Team Uganda, helping support Uganda’s participation in future international events including the 2027 Heritage Cup and preparations for upcoming world competitions.

Yosef Ngowe is among a growing group of Ugandan diaspora athletes helping raise the profile of Ugandan lacrosse internationally while competing at a high level in the United States.

Uganda National Lacrosse League season 3 was boosted by Ngowe’s presence playing for eventual winners Panthers Lacrosse Club and holding press briefings and coaching clinics in between games. Many players confessed to be inspired by his commitment and efforts in inspiring both home and diaspora based players in the growth and development of lacrosse in Uganda and Africa.

Yosef Ngowe visited both Kids Lacrosse Africa camp in Jinja and St Peters College Tororo where he also donated the essential lacrosse equipment.
